Freedom Through Fashion
Freedom Through Fashion is a project that signifies the unique freedom and individuality that streetwear allows through its expressive nature. There are various colors, textures, graphics and iconography present in this body of work; each representing the subject wearing them. This project fuses elements of portraiture and fashion photography with the intentions to explore how different people use streetwear to express themselves. Streetwear is the most accessible type of fashion regardless of your background or economic status. There are no rules, which allows anyone’s unique tastes to have an equal seat at the table. It is fashion radicalized.
Vivid colors interact in a playful manner throughout this body of work, yet this project maintains solemn undertones that are introspective in nature. By fusing elements of portraiture and fashion photography, Keith has the intention to explore the complexities and creativity that people use to express themselves via streetwear. His images offer a vulnerable peek through the layers of fabrics and into the creative mind of his subjects. Without guidance to specific colors or garment elements, every model was encouraged to dress in their own personal aesthetic and style. Keith’s influence is present through the way he accentuated the model’s style and manipulated the images to succinctly exhibit his photographic aesthetic; making this a collaborative effort.
